Citizens Shape New Web Site Service

Three years and more than 24,000 citizen comments later, Douglas County has introduced a new Web-based service, shaped by citizen input, with content focused on citizens’ most frequently asked questions about their most commonly searched subjects.

“CitizenCONNECT™ content was not only informed and shaped by years of studying citizen use of and listening to their input regarding the Web site, it will continue to evolve based on future citizen use and input,” said Jack Hilbert, Chair, Douglas County Board of County Commissioners.

“With our County’s impressively high home Internet access, it is important that we continually improve our constituents’ ability to seek and find information at all hours of the day, any day of the week via the Web,” added Douglas County Commissioner, Steve Boand.

A 2008 Citizen Survey revealed that 95 percent of Douglas County households have Internet access at home, with more than 90 percent on high speed Internet service. “This told us that the majority of our citizens could access and use a robust Web-based service such as CitizenCONNECT,” continued Hilbert.

In addition to the years of direct citizen input, the 2006 and 2008 citizen survey findings also influenced the content and focus of CitizenCONNECT. Visit www.douglas.co.us and click on the citizenCONNECT icon for this service.
