Douglas County Commissioners Receive NACo Appointments
Douglas County’s interests will be represented during national-level policy debates through the appointment of Commissioner Jack A. Hilbert to the NACo Board of Directors and all three County Commissioners to National Association of Counties (NACo) Steering Committees.
Commissioner Hilbert is the first Commissioner from Douglas County and second in the state of Colorado to receive a NACo president appointment to the Board.
In addition to being named to the NACo Board of Directors, Commissioner Hilbert has been appointed to the Transportation Steering Committee. Commissioner Steven A. Boand has been appointed to the Steering Committee on Environment, Energy and Land Use; and Commissioner Jill Repella’s appointment is to the Steering Committee on Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs.
In their roles they will lobby members of Congress on important policy issues both in Washington, D.C., and in the district and state.
The National Association of Counties is the only national organization that represents county governments in the United States. Founded in 1935, NACo provides essential services to the nation’s 3,066 counties. NACo advances issues with a unified voice before the federal government, improves the public’s understanding of county government, assists counties in finding and sharing innovative solutions through education and research, and provides value-added services to save counties and taxpayers money.
