Stimulus funding increases food assistance benefits

Clients receiving food assistance from the Douglas County Department of Human Services will automatically receive additional funds on their electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards beginning in April due to the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Food assistance benefits can be used in the same manner as before. Funds cannot be used to purchase alcohol, tobacco, non-food items, vitamins/medicines or food that can be consumed in the store such as deli items.
