Professional Land Planner Needed for County Open Space Board

The Douglas County Commissioners invite applications for an open seat on the County Open Space Advisory Committee (COSAC) that, by resolution, must be filled by a professional land planner. Applications are due to the County Commissioners office by April 30.

The purpose of COSAC is to help ensure and enhance the positive quality of life in Douglas County through the preservation and stewardship of open space lands.

Working with staff, the committee makes recommendations to the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners and municipal officials regarding disbursement of funds from the Open Space Land, Trails, and Parks Fund, and the selection of open space land to be acquired, maintained, or preserved, and for the establishment of preservation priorities through citizen input.

COSAC is made of nine members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The members are comprised of three representatives of municipal government selected from a list of nominees submitted by the municipalities, three representatives of the County, one from each Commissioner district, and three members appointed at large with at least one of these to be a Douglas County Planning Commission member and one a professional land planner. COSAC members are appointed for a term of three years with terms staggered so that one-third expires each year. Members may be re-appointed at the discretion of the Board of County Commissioners.

Monthly meetings are generally the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.

An application is available online at www.douglas.co.us/commissioners/Open_Space_Advisory_Committee.html
