Commissioners Commit to Rural Planning Initiative
Open House Scheduled for May 14th
Recognizing the importance of the rural lifestyle to Douglas County, the County Commissioners have requested creation of a rural lifestyle planning initiative that will be led by a citizen-based ad hoc committee.
An open house to launch the initiative will be held on May 14th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Douglas County Events Center. Applications for this ad hoc committee will be available at the May 14th Open House and are also available on-line at http://www.douglas.co.us/commissioners/adhoc/Rural_Framework_Committee.html. Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m., May 18th and may be delivered to 100 Third Street, Castle Rock, or sent by fax to 303-688-1293.
Called the Rural Framework Committee, this citizen-based group will collect and convey information regarding regulations and policies that support the rural lifestyle. The purpose of the Open House is to take initial citizen input on key rural values and land use issues and to provide information on opportunities for continued public participation as the initiative moves forward.
Issues that will be addressed by the Framework Committee will include land use, water supply and approaches for implementing the defined rural values and priorities, including possible changes to the Comprehensive Master Plan policies and/or zoning and subdivision resolutions pertaining to rural land use.
