Identity-Theft Prevention Event Benefits Local Crime Stoppers™ Program

Douglas County residents are invited to participate in the Saturday, June 13 electronics recycling and personal documents shredding event from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., in the Douglas County Justice Center parking lot, 4000 Justice Center Way in Castle Rock (approximately I-25 and Founders Meadows Parkway exit).

All donations – 100% – accepted on behalf of Crimestoppers will be given to this non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage greater responsibility and involvement of the public in the awareness, control and prevention of serious crime.

For personal documents shredding, residents may bring up to three boxes or bags of paper. Unlimited, yet specific personal items for electronics recycling will be accepted. There will be a disposal fee of $5.00 for each computer monitor and a fee of $20 for televisions smaller than 24 inches and $40 for televisions larger than 24 inches. Fees will fund the environmentally responsible disposal of materials within these electronics.

Shredding of personal documents and electronics recycling is made possible thanks to sponsors Shred-It™ and TechnoRescue™. For each recycled cell phone one hour of talk time will be donated to soldiers abroad via a pre-paid calling card donated by Cell Phones for Soldiers.  For more information on this event, which items will be accepted for electronics recycling and how to fight against identity theft, please visit www.douglas.co.us/Shred-a-thon
