Permit Fee Waiver Program Expanded and Deadline Extended
Douglas County has extended to December 31, 2009 the program which waives the cost of building permit fees, low impact GESC permit fees and administrative subdivision fees, and has expanded the program to include permits for additional qualifying construction projects. Due to statutory requirements, use tax must be assessed and collected.
The Permit Fee Waiver Program covers the following improvements to existing single-family homes:
Building Permit Fees:
• Basement Finishes
• Carports
• Central Air Conditioning Systems
• Conversion of attached garage to living space or other approved use
• Decks and Patio Covers
• Fireplace / Fire Pits, Outdoor Kitchens (including gas line)
• Gazebos
• Geothermal Systems
• Hot Tubs / Spas (above ground)
• Interior electrical upgrades or changes
• Interior renovations including plumbing, heating and electrical
• Photovoltaic Systems
• Residential demolition when such structure is NOT deemed to have historical significance
• Residential Driveway Permits
• Residential landscape/irrigation systems (backflow preventer installation)
• Solar Water Heating Systems
• Sunrooms (unheated)
• Window / Door Replacements
• Wood/Pellet Stoves (must meet EPA standards)
Engineering / Planning Permit Fees:
• Lot Line Vacation
• Building Envelope Adjustment
• Lot Line Adjustment
• Home Occupation – Class 2 Permit
• Low Impact GESC review fee
• Special Events Permit
