Rural Framework Committee to Host Two Community Meetings

December 17th, 2009

Members of the Douglas County Rural Framework Committee invite the public to attend two community meetings at which they welcome discussion on the final Committee report.

Meetings will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Franktown Fire Station; and Wednesday,  January 20, 2010, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Cherry Valley Elementary School.

Recognizing the importance of the rural lifestyle to Douglas County, the County Commissioners embarked on a rural lifestyle planning initiative that was led by this citizen-based ad hoc committee.

The 30 member Rural Framework Committee was appointed by the Board in May, its members selected to broadly represent the various rural areas and interests of the County.  After numerous meetings and check-back open house events over the next 6 month period, the Rural Framework Committee presented its final report and recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on December 15th.  Their recommendations include several important guiding principals and regulatory concepts aimed at implementing the values identified by the Committee and rural citizenry early on in the process.
