One appointee from each of the three County Commissioner Districts is needed to serve as alternates for the Douglas County Board of Adjustment. Alternates take the place of a regular member of the Board of Adjustment in the event a regular member is temporarily unavailable. The term of the appointment will be for three years. 

The Board of Adjustment hears requests to deviate from zoning regulations, interprets zoning maps, and resolves property and district boundary disputes.
