Nominations for the Metropolitan Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award (MMCYA) are being accepted by Douglas County now through Jan. 15, 2010.  Those nominated must be teens, ages 13 to 19, who have overcome difficult situations in their lives. 

The MMCYA recognizes and supports young people who have made positive changes, and exhibited strength and determination in the face of adversity.  Anyone may nominate a teen that meets this description by completing a nomination form available online at www.douglas.co.us/commissioners/Metro_Mayors_and_Commissioners_Youth_Award.html.

A Douglas County selection committee will review the applications shortly after the deadline to identify which teens are eligible to be recognized at the County level and which ten nominees should be forwarded for consideration at the metro-level.  Four teens from nine counties will be recognized at a metro-wide banquet in April 2010.
