Douglas County Commissioners Appointed to NACO Committees

February 4th, 2010

Douglas County’s interests will be represented during national-level policy debates on local government issues through the appointment of Douglas County Commissioners Steven A. Boand, Jack A. Hilbert, and Jill E. Repella to one-year positions on National Association of Counties (NACo) Steering Committees.

Commissioner Boand has been nominated to serve on the Environment, Energy and Land Use Steering Committee; Commissioner Repella has been nominated to serve on the Finance and Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee; and Commissioner Hilbert has been appointed to the Transportation Steering Committee.

In addition to serving on the NACo Transportation Steering Committee, Commissioner Hilbert is one of six appointees nationwide on the NACo Finance Standing Committee, an advisory committee to the executive officers of the NACo Board.

The National Association of Counties is the only national organization that represents county governments in the United States. Founded in 1935, NACo provides essential services to the nation’s 3,066 counties. NACo advances issues with a unified voice before the federal government, improves the public’s understanding of county government, assists counties in finding and sharing innovative solutions through education and research, and provides value-added services to save counties and taxpayers money.
