George Kennedy is serving his first term as Douglas County Public Trustee. George holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences from Colorado State University. A resident of Douglas County since 1978, George has served as the Mayor of Castle Rock, Director of Douglas County Human Services and most recently as the Deputy Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Human Services. George was appointed Public Trustee by Governor John Hickenlooper on March 28, 2011.
The Office of the Public Trustee is a financially autonomous agency providing deeds of trust oversight services for property owners within the county. Responsibilities of the office include releasing Deeds of Trust and overseeing foreclosure proceedings. The office is committed to helping property owners understand Colorado laws and their rights regarding releases of Deeds of Trust, as well as foreclosure processes and serves as a liaison between property owners and lenders.
George is an active member of the Colorado County Public Trustee Association.
“Douglas County is my home and I have watched it grow into a vibrant community,” said Kennedy. “Over the years it has not lost that special quality and remains a great place to raise a family or just enjoy being a resident,” he said.
George enjoys spending time with his family, especially watching his grandkids, playing golf or just catching up with friends.
