Teri Cox - Assessor
Teri Cox was elected Douglas County Assessor in November 2006, after serving the public for more than 19 years through her leadership as Mapping Supervisor, Appraisal Deputy and Administrative Deputy Assessor.
Teri’s focus for the future will be to expand the communication and availability of the Assessor’s office to the residents of Douglas County, and continue to improve the delivery of accurate and fair values. Teri is committed to providing prompt, courteous, professional service, and encouraging continued excellence from her dedicated and knowledgeable staff.
Teri continually strives to stay abreast of Colorado standards in professional appraisal practices through continuing education, training, seminars and conferences. She is a Registered Appraiser and has presented and taught classes at both the Colorado State Division of Property Taxation and International Association of Assessing Officers’ forums. Teri is an active member of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), the Colorado Assessor’s Association, Colorado Association of Tax Appraisers, International Association of Assessing Officers, Castle Rock Toastmasters and the Castle Rock High Noon Rotary.
Teri has always been a strong proponent of the innovative use of advanced technology. Her many accomplishments in public life have included a project recognized nationally as an Exemplary System in Government by URISA; conversion to a Geographic Information System and the dissemination of assessor’s information and online services on the Internet.
Born and raised in rural Iowa, Teri received her B.S. in Education from Iowa State University. Subsequently, she and her husband Ben made their home in Colorado, moving to Douglas County in 1978, where they have raised their two sons and been active members in the community.
